Draft placeholder — not reviewed by counsel. This document is placeholder text for development only and must be replaced with counsel-reviewed language before HoundSquare onboards real users.

HoundSquare respects the intellectual-property rights of others and responds to notices of alleged copyright infringement consistent with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This policy explains how to submit a takedown notice and how affected parties can respond.

1. Filing a takedown notice #

If you believe content on HoundSquare infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent (see below). We will remove or disable access to allegedly infringing material that is properly identified, and will make a reasonable effort to notify the affected user.

2. Required information #

To be effective, your notice must include all of the following:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  • Identification of the infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it (for example, the URL of the business page).
  • Your contact information — name, mailing address, telephone number, and email.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

3. Counter-notification #

If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our designated agent. It must include: your signature; identification of the removed material and its former location; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and phone number; and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate federal court and to accept service of process from the complaining party. If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless the complaining party files a court action.

4. Repeat infringers #

We may suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers.

5. Designated agent #

Send DMCA notices and counter-notifications to our designated agent at dmca@houndsquare.com. [Placeholder — the designated agent's name and physical address must be added and registered with the U.S. Copyright Office before launch.]
